Mission
& Objectives
MISSION STATEMENT
The Society's Mission is the prevention of crime through
research, community education, the promotion of systemic
change and restorative services to individuals.
PRINCIPLES
In a healthy community every member has a place.
All members of the community share a responsibility to
ensure that this is the case.
Although individuals are responsible for their actions,
there are social conditions which increase the likelihood
of crime occurring and crime is therefore an important indicator
of community health.
An effective crime prevention strategy must be based on
inclusionary approaches which ensure that individuals at
risk of committing crime have opportunity and empowerment
in finding their place in the community.
While demonstrating community values and administering
consequences the criminal justice system should be restorative.
Fact not fear should inform crime prevention.
